Yue-Sai Kan Honored for Leadership, Cultural Impact, and Cross-Cultural Connection
The Ellis Island Honors Society is proud to celebrate Yue-Sai Kan, an esteemed member of the EIHS Board of Directors and a great friend to our organization, following her recognition at the 42nd Anniversary Gala held on March 16, 2026.
The Gala honored distinguished individuals from Hong Kong and Greater China who have built exceptional careers in the United States while giving back through leadership, mentorship, philanthropy, and community engagement. Yue-Sai’s extraordinary career and lifelong commitment to cultural understanding made her a truly deserving honoree.
An Emmy Award-winning media pioneer, entrepreneur, author, and philanthropist, Yue-Sai has spent decades building bridges between East and West. In 1972, she created Looking East, the first American television series dedicated to Asian cultures. In 1986, she became the first non-Chinese citizen to host a national television series in China, One World on CCTV, reaching hundreds of millions of viewers each week.
Her influence has extended far beyond media. In 1992, Yue-Sai founded Yue Sai Cosmetics, which became one of China’s leading beauty brands before its acquisition by L’Oréal. She has also raised millions of dollars for education, medical, and cultural preservation initiatives, and continues to champion respect, inclusion, and cross-cultural dialogue through the Yue-Sai Kan One World Foundation.
Her professional achievements, generosity, and steadfast support of the Hong Kong community beautifully reflect the spirit of the evening and the strength behind this year’s theme: “Hong Kong’s Got Talent.”
EIHS congratulates Yue-Sai Kan on this well-deserved recognition and proudly celebrates her continued leadership, service, and global impact.
